| Tasting Notes | Drink Date: 2025-0245The 2018 Dernauer Goldkaul is from a tiny, terraced, very old andsouth-facing 0.5-hectare plot on slate and graywacke that islocated at 190-220 meters in altitude in a hidden side valley onthe other side of the Ahr stream. The bouquet is super pure,reductive, floral and very fine, with delicate spicy notes oftobacco, dark berries and lemon peel. Juicy, silky and salty, withabnormal fine tannins and a citrusy salinity, this is an untamedyet intense and tightly structured Ahr Pinot with remarkablefinesse and aging potential. Enormously long and bursting oftension. Simply a great Pinot Noir, not only in the German context. |
